The Easy Traveler

Strong in Release: letting go of what I cannot control
Growing in Story: making sense of the life I have lived

You have a shoebox of good photographs and no album, and only you know which ones belong together. You travel lightly. You can let things be, and that makes you good company.

You will recognize this

Someone asks about an old photograph, and you say, “Oh, that was in Denver, I think,” and change the subject. The grandchildren ask how you met someone, and the story is charming and short. In the closet, the boxes wait. You are not avoiding the past. You just never sat down with it.

You did not stay angry. The business that failed, the marriage that ended, the move nobody wanted: you tell them lightly, and not because you are hiding anything. You can look at your whole history and be curious instead of braced. That calm is an accomplishment, not luck.

This season

You were always moving: new towns, new jobs, new starts, and you were good at it. Now the moving has slowed, and the family, or old friends, may be asking: Where did you live then? Why did you leave? Only you hold the whole route.
