The Strong Vessel
Strong in Ease: being at home in my body and my days
Growing in Story: making sense of the life I have lived

A full tank and a clean windshield are fine things to have, and they still do not tell you where to drive. Your body and your days are in good order. You are ready for the road.
You will recognize this
From the moment you wake there is a list, a plan, a reason to be up. At four in the afternoon, everything is done, and you invent one more job. Someone asks what you have been up to, and you rattle off a week of tasks, and nobody asks what any of it was for, including you.
Up at six. The garden is in, the garage is swept, the grandchildren, or somebody's children, are driven, the church or synagogue supper set up and taken down. You have rest that restores and energy that shows up, which is no small thing at any age.
This season
The days used to be assigned: jobs, children, a household, a schedule set by others. Now the calendar is yours, and you have filled it, out of habit and good health. The danger is not idleness. It is staying busy through your best remaining years without asking what for.
