Current No. 5 of 31 · the second half of life
The Completed Chapter
Strong in Story: making sense of the life I have lived
Growing in Ahead: leaning toward what comes next

You have bound the book and set it on the shelf, and there are still blank pages sewn into the back. You have lived a full story, and you can read it whole, with honesty and gratitude.
You will recognize this
A friend mentions a class, and you laugh it off. A grandchild offers to teach you something, and you say you would not catch on. The paper announces a choir, a trip, a course, and you turn the page. None of it feels like a decision. Check it once.
Look around the table: the one who is content, and means it, is you. You seem to have made your peace with most of the roads not taken. People still wrestling with their pasts find you restful to be near. That peace is the best ground a new chapter could stand on.
This season
Something was always lined up next: school, work, children, the next move. Then the lineup ended, and the quiet felt like an ending too. But the years ahead are real years. This season does not ask you to be busy. It only asks whether one more page is wanted.
