Current No. 30 of 31 · the second half of life
The Hopeful Watcher
Strong in Ahead: leaning toward what comes next
Growing in Release: letting go of what I cannot control

You keep one eye on the sunrise and one eye on the barometer, and the sunrise would like both of them. Hope comes naturally to you.
You will recognize this
First thing, before the coffee: the forecast, the headlines, the messages. In the evening, one more check before bed. On good days, something lovely is happening, and part of you is scanning for what might spoil it. You are not gloomy. You are just never quite off duty.
You look toward the next chapter with real hope, and you sign up for it. You also read about the weather before you go. You hold honest hope and a clear eye for what could go wrong. At its best, that is judgment. When something does go wrong, you are the one with the flashlight.
This season
Watching used to be the responsible thing: children, money, health, the news that affected your family. Now there is more time to watch, and more to watch. This season can fill with checking. It can also be the time you finally trust the morning.
