The Willing Spirit

Strong in Ahead: leaning toward what comes next
Growing in Ease: being at home in my body and my days

The seed catalogs come in January, and you order for half an acre, while the knees that will plant it are asking for two raised beds. Your spirit says yes to life. You still dream in half-acres.

You will recognize this

Three things are written on a single Tuesday. The day after, you are worn out and keep going. Someone asks if you are sure, and you laugh and say of course. Your heart was right. Your knees had a different opinion.

You still say yes, with your whole heart: the class, the trip, the committee, the recital two hours away, the garden that was going to be smaller this year. Your hope is intact, and that is no small thing. Other people borrow your yes when theirs runs thin.

This season

Your body used to keep up with your spirit. Now it sometimes lags: a slower recovery, a stiffer morning, a long drive that costs two days instead of one. Your spirit may feel younger than your knees. Let the two talk to each other, so the yes you love can keep going for years.
