Current No. 8 of 31 · the second half of life
The Generous Giver
Strong in Talents: trusting what I have learned and can do
Growing in Ease: being at home in my body and my days

Everyone ties up to the steady dock, and nobody sees the pilings taking every wave. You are the dock. Your strength holds a great deal.
You will recognize this
Right after the hard phone call, you hang up, steady, and go straight to the next thing: the dishes, the errand, someone else's need. Your shoulders stay where the call put them. Nobody asked you not to pause. You just never learned how.
When something goes wrong, you are the first call: not always the oldest, but the one whose voice goes level when every other voice goes up. That calm was paid for, and other people borrow it just by standing near you.
This season
For decades your strength had full-time work: children, aging parents, a job, the friend whose marriage was falling apart. Some of those duties ended. Others arrived: a partner's health, the long phone calls of friends getting older too. This season gives you the right, at last, to rest between waves.
